چکیده

The systematics of the poriferan Order Haplosclerida (Class Demospongiae) has been under scrutiny for a number of years without resolution. Molecular data suggests that the order needs revision at all taxonomic levels. Here, we provide a comprehensive view of the phylogenetic relationships of the marine Haplosclerida using many species from across the order, and three gene regions. Gene trees generated using 28S rRNA, nad1 and cox1 gene data, under maximum likelihood and Bayesian approaches, are highly congruent and suggest the presence of four clades. Clade A is comprised primarily of species of Haliclona and Callyspongia, and clade B is comprised of H. simulans and H. vansoesti (Family Chalinidae), Amphimedon queenslandica (Family Niphatidae) and Tabulocalyx (Family Phloeodictyidae), Clade C is comprised primarily of members of the Families Petrosiidae and Niphatidae, while Clade D is comprised of Aka species. The polyphletic nature of the suborders, families and genera described in other studies is also found here.

Genetic Characterization of Argas persicus From Iran by Sequencing of Mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I (COX1) and 16s rRNA Genes

Background: Argas persicus has a great importance for health and veterinary, it can transmit many infectious agents such as Borrelia anserina (avian spirochetosis) and Aegyptianella pullorum. Distinguishing Argasidae due to close morphological relationship is difficult. OBJECTIVES: In the present study, we performed molecular analyses based on PCR and sequencing of Amplicon derived from 16S rRN...

Nearly complete 28S rRNA gene sequences confirm new hypotheses of sponge evolution.

The highly collaborative research sponsored by the NSF-funded Assembling the Porifera Tree of Life (PorToL) project is providing insights into some of the most difficult questions in metazoan systematics. Our understanding of phylogenetic relationships within the phylum Porifera has changed considerably with increased taxon sampling and data from additional molecular markers. PorToL researchers...

A comparative phylogenetic analysis of Theileria spp. by using two two "18S ribosomal RNA" and "Theileria annulata merozoite surface antigen" gene sequences

More than 185 species, strains and unclassified Theileria parasites are categorized in the Entrez Taxonomy. The accurate diagnosis and proper identification of the causative agents are important for understanding the epidemiology, prevention and appropriate treatment. This study aims to discuss the importance of two genes of Theileria annulata 18S ribosomal RNA (18S rRNA) and Theileria annulata...

Reconstructing ordinal relationships in the Demospongiae using mitochondrial genomic data.

Class Demospongiae (phylum Porifera) encompasses most of sponges' morphological and species diversity. It also represents one of the most challenging and understudied groups in animal phylogenetics, with many higher-level relationships still being unresolved. Among the unanswered questions are the most fundamental, including those about the monophyly of the Demospongiae and the relationships am...

Phylogenetic relationships of the commercial marine shrimp family Penaeidae from Persian Gulf

Phylogenetic relationships among all described species (total of 5 taxa) of the shrimp genus Penaeus, were examined with nucleotide sequence data from portions of mitochondrial gene and cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI). There are twelve commercial shrimp in the Iranian coastal waters. The reconstruction of the evolution phylogeny of these species is crucial in revealing stock identity that ca...
